Dr. Melanie Youngs

Veterinarian

I graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2010 and spent the first 12 years of my career working at the Winnipeg Humane Society. I loved being a voice and advocate for the injured, homeless, and neglected animals of this beautiful province. I have travelled all over the north, reaching as far as Churchill, performing remote spay and neuter clinics. I continue to regularly participate in spay/neuter clinics across the province and provide veterinary care for the RAMS Adoption Centre right here in Oakbank. I have a strong interest in surgery and dentistry and have received additional training in orthopedic procedures.

I moved to a hobby farm near Oakbank in the fall of 2021.  I quickly filled the small acreage with horses, goats, and a mixed bird flock. I share my home with my husband, two children, mother, four dogs, four cats, house pig named Kevin Bacon, and fosters from the RAMS Adoption Centre.

When the commute to the city became too much, I looked for opportunities closer to home and came across this gem of a practice in the heart of Springfield. I am so thrilled to be a part of this amazing team and clinic and to become a valued member of this fantastic community.

When I’m not wearing my veterinarian scrub cap you can find me riding my horses on the trails of Birds Hill park, hiking with my goats, camping, running, cycling, cross country skiing, and exploring the province with my family.
